Metal Drifter Yoyo - Duncan

Metal Drifter Yoyo - Duncan

CA$41.95

Description :

The Duncan Metal Drifter Yoyo uses design elements from the Free Hand Zero yoyo to take the freehand 5A style of play and bring it to a new model of aluminum yoyo at a much lower price that is extremely affordable.

The Duncan Metal Drifter yoyo is crafted from premium aircraft aluminum. It has a wide, flared gap shape that helps the player land the most complex string tricks. This yoyo is very comfortable in the hand, which is a huge plus. The wide shape makes it easier to catch back on the string than other narrower yoyos, and the extremely smooth aluminum surface is very slippery so that you can do some grinding tricks.

At 61 grams, it's not an extremely heavy metal yoyo. That makes for very spirited play, although the spin times are going to be slightly shorter than some of the other, more expensive metal yoyos that are heavily weighted near the rim. With yoyos, there is not really a "good" weight or a "bad" weight. There’s just the weight for a certain style of play, or as a personal preference. That's why great players will own a large number of yoyos, as they try a lot of types as they figure out the optimal type of yoyo for their current skill level or style of yoyoing that they are currently trying to master.

The Duncan Metal Drifter yoyo has a recessed silicone pad response system and a wider than usual string gap, which allows for less-responsive play. This means that it will be difficult for beginners to "wake up" when the yoyo is sleeping and you tug on the string. You'll want to at least have an intermediate skill level to make the best use of this yoyo and not be frustrated with it.

This yoyo uses a size A bearing, which is the standard sized bearing used in most Duncan models. Each metal drifter yoyo comes with a really cool skull counterweight for 5A "freehand" play that comes in assorted colors. Keep in mind that you are not required to use the counterweight if you don't want to! If you want to use the Duncan Metal Drifter as a regular yoyo, it works great that way. You can play the yoyo both ways, which gives you a lot of options for mastering different styles of yoyo tricks.

Duncan has a patent for including a counterweight with a yoyo, so you won’t find any other brands that include one. Yoyoing with a counterweight, commonly known as 5A and "Freehand" yoyoing, is an entirely new type of yoyo play that the amazing Steve Brown, a National Yoyo Master, invented while he worked for Duncan.

The best part about the Metal Drifter yoyo is that it is very affordable, but still has the professional feel of a quality metal player. If you are choosing your first metal yoyo in the intermediate to advanced category, the Metal Drifter should be top on your list.
